The manuals left to use from Germany in the 14th-16th century cover the use of a wide range of weapons. Some weapons, such as the Longsword are shown in almost every manual and were used in a wide range of contexts. Others, such as the dueling shields shown in several of Talhoffer's texts, were specialized weapons for very specific circumstances.
